I have 14 years of experience teaching in both special and general education. I currently hold a Professional level Special Education license in the state of Oregon. My undergraduate degrees in Religious Studies and Philosophy are from the University of Oregon. My Master of Arts and Teaching, Special Education is from Pacific University, Oregon.
During my teaching career I have taught students with severe multiple disabilities in Life Skills settings to 6th grade General Education and everything in between. I have spent most of my career as a member of multidisciplinary IEP (Individualized Education Program) teams. In that role I helped evaluate, plan, implement and deliver individualized, small group and whole group instruction. I have designed education programs from the ground up, including classroom design, curriculum mapping, lesson planning and staff development programs. I have had the honor of successfully mentoring student teachers working through their masters and licensing programs. I have worked closely with school psychologist, counselors, speech pathologist, autism specialists, physical therapists, nurses and most importantly Parents and Students. I look forward to working with you and your student soon.
I believe every student can learn. I believe we learn best when we are engaged in high interest activities. I hope students in my classes will enjoy good discussions and be empowered to ask questions, think critically and grow together.
